TEDxUbud returns to Bali on Saturday, May 28th, 2016, with the theme ‘Small Things, Great Things’. It will feature a selection of Indonesian and international leading thinkers, storytellers, and performers sharing their ideas with an audience of 300 and simulcast to a second venue at Rumah Sanur.

TEDxUbud licensee, Daniela Burr, says the partnership growth is testament to the rise in both the enthusiasm for the brand of TED within Indonesia. “We are delighted with the level of support for the event; with each year it grows in popularity exponentially. Without the in-kind and financial support TEDxUbud receives, it would not exist. The brands associating with TEDxUbud are the thought, design and technological leaders in their respective fields,” she said.

This year, TEDxUbud welcomes Zurich Topaz Life as the Presenting Sponsor. Zurich Topaz Life is an innovator in its field and TEDxUbud is proud to work with this company in bringing the event to life for its 5th year. TEDxUbud has never partnered with an insurance company before so Zurich Topaz Life will be a pioneer amongst its peers.

The event returns to its home at Fivelements Puri Ahimsa, once named in a list of the 14 best TEDx venues worldwide. The venue’s commitment to environmental stewardship is without compare and permeates the entire event, from the organic and locally sourced food eaten by participants, to the waste management system in place to deal with an event of this magnitude.

This year also marks the first time TEDxUbud will hold a live viewing event, which is being produced in collaboration with Rumah Sanur, a creative hub based in Sanur, Bali. Tickets were sold out to the main event within 4 days of their release in February; however, tickets to the livestream event have just been released and can be purchased at tickets.tedxubud.com.

The confirmed speaker lineup for TEDxUbud 2016 includes: a Balinese opera singer, pioneers of biofuel in Bali, a contortionist fresh off a three year world tour, a man who bicycles through history, Indonesia’s first female Muslim stand up comedian, and a photographer who has mastered the art of high-low food. A full listing of speakers and performers will be announced shortly and made available at www.tedxubud.com

TEDxUbud is made possible thanks to the generous contributions of its partners, sponsors & volunteers. Major Partners for TEDxUbud 2016 include Fivelements Puri Ahimsa, AlphaSeven Productions, Utama Spice, and Fossil (PT Time International).

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

About TED

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or fewer) delivered by today's leading thinkers and doers. Many of these talks are given at TED's annual conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, and made available, free, on TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.

TED's open and free initiatives for spreading ideas include TED.com, where new TED Talk videos are posted daily; the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from thousands of volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TED-Ed; the annual million-dollarTED Prize, which funds exceptional individuals with a "wish," or idea, to create change in the world; TEDx, which provides licenses to thousands of individuals and groups who host local, self-organized TED-style events around the world; and the TED Fellows program, which selects innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.
